Queen_and_Presidents_1

Queen Elizabeth has been around for a long time.  In fact so long that there are a string of pictures that take us through 11 presidents through time.  From the most recent picture of her with Barack Obama (and the one that stirred controversy with Michelle Obama) all the way back to the days of Mr. Eisenhower, the Queen has had her share of men.

Two questions.  I wonder if she said stuff like “Good Lord that guy’s a moron” after hanging out with George Bush.  And secondly, there must have been some hanky panky going on no?

Here are the 11 men she’s posed with….

I’m pretty good at math. In fact I can even count to 10…which is the number of US Presidents I counted in your article (not 11).

I dislike monarchy.
I dislike the Queen.
But I like a lot the idea that someone stayed in the same seat for so long. She represents the stability. She has seen it all. She must have a perspective that NOBODY can dream of having.
TOO BAD SHE CAN’T PUT ANY OF THAT TO GOOD USE.
I’d like to have a chat with the lady.

Hmmm…I double and triple checked the number of presidents shown here yesterday – before writing – and only counted 10. What I don’t recall is which were/weren’t there (I’m guessing Truman’s … or it was a senior moment on my part … OR…maybe it’s that new math where 10 = 11). My apologies Kareen, there ‘are’ 11 shown now.

There are 11 you dumb asses. You didn’t count Obama – most likely because of the text in between the other pictures.

Somebody call Sesame Street and get the Count down here stat!

There are only ten presidents, if for some reason you ignore the eleventh. You must have forgot to count Obama. Racist.

Nothing says “hack” like a “George Bush is a big dumb poo-poo head!” joke. Try coming up with a joke, any joke that hasn’t been told thousands of times over the past eight years.
George Bush may have been stupid but he at least understood the protocols for dealing with a monarch. Barack Obama, Super Genius sure doesn’t.

She also met FDR. He visited England in 1942 and stayed at Windsor Castle.

For an American there is no protocol for meeting a royal, only common courtesy, which I would extend to anyone deserving of it. Beyond that, the queen (any royal, really) can go screw themselves.

She wasn’t the Queen when she met FDR, she was corinated in the early 50’s I think, FDR died in1945

Great Brittan isn’t a Monarchy and the Queen isn’t a Monarch, she is a figure head with only ceremonial power.

Merry

October 27th, 2009 at 4:05 am

As a Brit, a few pointers;

It’s Great Britain, or the United Kingdom. Not Gret Bittan, or Britttian, or the Untied Kinjdom. Please try to spell with the Queen’s English, not American English [Rout and Route are not pronounced the same!]

The Queen has been married to Prince Philip for donkey’s years, and who would seriously want to hit that after Philip has?

The Queen is about as political as Switzerland. She wouldn’t call anyone anything to stop a scandal breaking out. Philip, on the other hand…..

Benjamin

October 29th, 2009 at 5:20 pm

George Bush is a cock, but at least he met the Queen in white tie.

Merry, yes, you can spell “Britain” properly, but someone who writes something like “As a Brit, a few pointers;” shouldn’t really go throwing around phrases like “the Queen’s English.”

Matt, you needn’t have any political power to be called a monarch. Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark are all monarchies whose monarchs have mainly ceremonial functions, now. However, I believe the Queen of England still has some theoretical power over government and politics, only there’d be a massive scandal if she used it against the will of Parliament. Here in Canada, the Governor General recently had to decide whether to comply with the prime minister’s request to dissolve parliament. The monarchs (and their representatives, such as the GG) do have some theoretical power.

She did not meet LBJ due to schedules. There was not political, social or appearance reasons. She was due to have Edward and could not travel to LBJ’s funeral. It would have been inappropriate for her to give birth to a possible heir to the thrown in the US. She does not need an anchor baby.

The Queen is Head of State in the United Kingdom. As a constitutional monarch, Her Majesty does not ‘rule’ the country, but fulfills important ceremonial and formal roles with respect to Government. She is also Fount of Justice, Head of the Armed Forces and has important relationships with the established Churches of England and Scotland.
