This story comes from The New York Post so lord knows how true it actually is, but it did produce one choice quote that rings true in my ears at least.

“The big lecture buyers in the US are paralyzed with fear about booking her, basically because they think she is a blithering idiot,” the source said. “They don’t want to tick people off.”

This comes in the wake of Palin’s China speech which she was paid six figures to give. In that speech she criticized the US government and the president and blamed them for the financial crisis. A few US delegates actually walked out because “it was awful, we couldn’t stand it any longer.”

But regardless, I am hesitant to believe this story because it remains a fact that the Republican base, for some reason or another, still love Palin, and I can’t believe there aren’t dozens of ultra-rich superchurches around the country clamoring to throw money at her so she’ll come and fire up their crowds with talk of death panels and socialism and faith-based universal healthcare.

Though maybe, just maybe, this country’s gotten a little smarter, and our tolerance for “blithering idiots” in high office is finally starting to decline.
