Yesterday, President Obama went on five different Sunday talk shows to discuss health care in the wake of his address to Congress. It’s part of a PR push designed to get the public on his side by answering lingering questions about his plan, before Congress actually votes on a bill this fall (or winter, or spring, who knows). But one network got left off the to-do list, Fox News, and they’re none too happy about it.

“There’s a kind of childishness or pettiness about it,” Wallace said, adding later that the current occupants of the White House “are the biggest bunch of crybabies that I have dealt with in my 30 years in Washington.”

But the White House shot out a statement almost immediately through spokesman Josh Earnest, saying that the pot was calling the kettle black:

“We figured Fox would rather show So You Think You Can Dance than broadcast an honest discussion about health insurance reform…Fox is an ideological outlet where the president has been interviewed before and will likely be interviewed again,” Earnest told ABC. “Not that the whining particularly strengthens their case for participation any time soon.”

The So You Think You Can Dance comment is referencing the fact that Fox decided to show the program instead of Obama’s speech to Congress, which was carried on every single other network, because it was, you know, important. I can’t say I blame the president for not wanting to show up on Fox to answer questions like “Why DO you want to destroy this country with government run health care?” although I do sort of feel like the White House has to be the bigger man here and get over it. It’s not like Fox is ever actually going to stop whining.
