One thing that really annoys me is when conservative leaning reporters ask conservative folks in the media why the liberals (said with disdain) are after them. This phrases it so that whenever someone criticizes said conservative, they come off looking like the crazy-liberal blogger the reporter set them up to become. So let me put my following criticism of Rep. Bachmann in context.

I do not consider myself a liberal, nor do I consider myself a conservative. I consider myself someone who is intelligent enough to look up crazy statements on the internet, made by people like Bachmann, and see just how aggravatingly wrong they are. I have written about Bachmann before, so I will refrain from criticizing past statements, and point readers to her Politifact.com file, where she sports three pants-on-fire rulings and two false rulings out of five statements. That’s like -3 for 5 in baseball batting terms. Now back to the segment.

In the segment, O’Reilly asks that seemingly age-old question “Why are they [liberals] coming after you?” to Rep. Bachmann.

“It may bother them that conservative women are happy and don’t need government in order to be successful in life,” Bachmann said. “…and it seems like they have a stereotype for women and I don’t fit in their stereotype.”

Well from a feminist prospective (one that I know oh-so much about), I’m sure they’re confused over a woman wanting to take away a woman’s right to choose. But from just a regular dude prospective, I’ve never broken up with a girl because they didn’t need government to be successful.

“Hey baby… I just don’t think things are going to work out.”

“What? Why? Everything has been wonderful so far!”

“Oh, believe me, I know. But… you just don’t need government to be successful in life. That really bothers me. I need someone who is completely dependent on government and you’re a pretty independent woman. That just don’t fly with me, girl.”

And now I just realized that Bachmann’s reasoning implies that liberal women aren’t capable of being independent. I can hear the blogosphere light up with rage!

But then… something a bit more interesting happened. Mr. O’Reilly had an epiphany as he continued to try and figure out why those darn liberals loathe Rep. Bachmann to the very core of their Democratic beings.

“…this is an off the wall question and I’m telling the audience that it’s just something that hass occurred to me. Both yo [Bachmann] and Sarah Palin are good looking women.”

Hello!

“I mean you’re attractive, young – relatively young – women.”

Ouch, Billy boy. Any comments hinting at a woman’s age isn’t going to win you over with ANYONE, regardless of political ideology. But let’s dissect the facts. Are liberal women less attractive than conservative?

I'd give her some healthcare to reform!

I'd listen to censored albums with her all.. night... long.

First female secretary of state. I'd let her see my... head of state.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I believe I see a group women with pitchforks, calling for my head.
